DON'T LET MARCH MADNESS BEGIN WITHOUT YOU!!!

March 31, 2009

The clock is ticking...join the annual KVBPR NCAA Basketball pool today!

Entry fee is $20, and you must fill out your online bracket before 11 a.m. CST on Thursday, March 19.

To enter:

  • Please email either of our co-commissioners Greg Bailey or Heather Schablik to let us know you would like to enter. We will then send you an e-mail invitation to join our online bracket hosted by www.cbssports.com.
  • Once you receive an invitation, you must have a cbssports.com user name and password to participate.
We are trying to make this our biggest pool ever and need your help! Please tell your spouses, significant others, friends, co-workers – anyone who excels in Bracketology or wants to engage in this rite of spring.

New features this year include:
  • Refer five people to the pool, and we'll waive your entry fee. Have your friends email Greg Bailey or Heather Schablik, tell us they want to enter and make sure they provide a referral name.
  • Winners of the first three rounds will receive $20 (the entry fee refunded). If the same player wins one or more rounds, he or she will win $20 per round.
The big bucks will go to the top three finishers (First-70%, Second-20%, Third-10%). The winner of the 2008 pool won more than $550.

We use the following scoring system:
First Round – 1 point
Second Round – 2 points
Third Round – 3 points
Fourth Round – 8 points
Semifinals – 16 points
Finals – 32 points

Bonus points are available in each round through a seed multiplier. For example, if a No. 12 seed wins a Second Round game (two points), then you will receive 24 points for correctly predicting the game. You are rewarded for correctly picking a lower seed to win.

Rules
  • All online brackets must be filled out by 11 a.m. CDT on Thursday, March 19.
  • Entry fee is $20 and must arrive at KVBPR offices no later than 11 a.m. on Friday, March 20. If not, your entry will be removed from the pool.
  • Please make checks payable to Heather Schablik or Greg Bailey, not KVBPR.
Please mail your $20 entry fee to:

  • If this is your first time to compete in the KVBPR pool, you will need to register with www.cbssports.com to enter the pool and compete.
