LONGTIME BANKING EXECUTIVE MYATT LOOKS FORWARD TO RETIREMENT
April 24, 2009
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Charles Myatt, Rutherford County president at First Tennessee, announced today his plans to retire this fall after four decades with the bank.
“Life has been good to me. I’ve been with First Tennessee for 40 years, and have been fortunate to have spent more than half of them in Rutherford County,” said Myatt. “But I’m looking forward to learning to relax, traveling with my wife and partner of almost 42 years, and spending more time with family and friends.”
Upon Myatt’s retirement, Derrick Williams, senior vice president of commercial banking at First Tennessee, will be promoted to Rutherford County president. Williams, who has more than 20 years of financial experience and 15 of those with First Tennessee, will move his office to Murfreesboro next month to work alongside Myatt.
“I look forward to working with Derrick over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition in this growing market,” continued Myatt. “He will be a terrific addition to the Rutherford County community.”
Myatt’s First Tennessee career began in Chattanooga in 1969, where he served in various positions, including senior vice president and manager of the branch division and senior vice president and manager of the east region of Chattanooga’s correspondent division. He moved to Murfreesboro in 1988 to become regional president, and during his tenure increased First Tennessee’s Rutherford County presence from three locations to 10 financial centers.
“Charlie has been an integral part of our success, specifically in Murfreesboro, for the past 21 years and will be greatly missed,” said Tony Thompson, Middle Tennessee market president. “We look forward to celebrating his First Tennessee career this fall.”
An active community leader, Myatt chairs the MTSU Miller Trust Corporation and serves on the City of Murfreesboro Pension Committee and the United Way Allocations Panel. He previously served as chairman of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, president of the MTSU Foundation and president of the Rutherford County Boys and Girls Club.
